* Go to the movies: This is not your usual multiplex movie experience we’re talking about, but a drive-in movie theatre located at the aptly named Drive-In Road. Get your car out and head to this open-air cinema which boasts of the largest open movie screen in all of Asia. The drive in can hold over 650 cars quite comfortably. Plus, there’s an on-site restaurant when you have the munchies.
* Visit the Sabarmati Ashram: Mahatma Gandhi’s home in Old Wadaj, the revered Sabarmati Ashram is one of the most beautiful and tranquil spots. The space has a free museum, housing most of his personal belongings, published books, newspaper writings and plaques of his teachings. Immerse yourself in a rich cultural experience!
* Check out vintage cars: If you like cars, then you should head straight to the Auto World Vintage Car Museum at Dastan Estate, one of the country’s biggest automobile museums. It is home to splendid vintage cars, from Lincolns to Rolls Royces. The best part is- you can even take a little drive in a vintage car, but make inquiries first.
* Eat your heart out at Manek Chowk: What’s a visit to Ahmedabad without sampling some famous Gujarati food? You could be out sightseeing all day, then head to Manek Chowk for some late night munching. It is located in the city’s oldest corner, and you can get your fill of some sumptuous street food here. We recommend local desserts, sandwiches and ice cream.
